We all know this sweet temptation, melting in your mouth, giving you one of the best feeling in the world. We simply cannot resist having a piece of chocolate, because, well… just because it is chocolate. This is the perfect gift, which brings people closer together and makes them smile. But is it a friend or foe? And which type of chocolate should we choose?

White Chocolate

It consists mainly of cocoa butter, sugar and butter. Unlike the milk and dark chocolates, it lacks enough nutritional substances. The white chocolate is recommended mainly for the women.

Dark chocolate is a wonderful source of antioxidants. It has been proven that the bitter-sweet temptation contains four times more antioxidants than fruit such as plums, grapes, apples and strawberries. It`s because of the large amount of cocoa in it. The dark chocolate is also flavonoid-rich. The flavonoids are known for their antioxidant qualities, while milk and white chocolate contain more milk, sugar and fats, rather than flavonoids. If you go for a dark chocolate with 70% cocoa content, you can’t` be wrong.

Chocolate is heart-friendly

It has been proven that a few pieces of chocolate regulate the blood pressure. The high cocoa content prevents the appearance of thrombocytes in the blood, which may cause cardio-vascular problems. Scientists found out that people, who consume dark chocolate a few times a week, rarely complain of heart problems. It is recommended to have small quantities of dark chocolate regularly in order to prevent weight-issues.

Chocolate reduces cholesterol levels

Latest researches show that if you regularly consume small amounts of dark chocolate, you will reduce the bad cholesterol levels by 10%.

Chocolate takes care of your brain

The chocolate is caffeine-rich – a 40g milk chocolate block, contains 10mg caffeine and a dark chocolate block – 28mg. That`s why if you eat a little bit of chocolate at breakfast, you`ll feel fresh and energized throughout the day.

Chocolate is a mood-booster

What do you do when you are sad – eat chocolate? Well, that`s the right thing to do, as it stimulates the secretion of endorphins – the happiness hormones. The more chocolate you eat, the happier you are.
