How To Stay Fit During A Vacation

Winter is finally here and very soon we‘ll have some days off to spend with our families and friends. Most of the times, when we go on a vacation, no matter if it‘s summer or winter, we tend to gain some weight because of the way we spend our time and lack of exercise. Because I‘m sure you don‘t want to ruin the way you look because of a week of vacation, I‘ll give you some tips on how to stay relatively healthy during a vacation and what to avoid to keep your waist thin!

Let‘s be honest – being on a diet when you‘re on a vacation, especially if you‘re in an all-inclusive hotel, is impossible! That‘s why you have to go with the clear idea that you won‘t be able to eat what you usually eat and don‘t feel guilty about that. What you can do is eat slowly – this way you‘ll help your metabolism work faster and you won‘t eat more than the amount your body needs to function. Also, if there‘s some way, don’t eat too much for breakfast – stick to fruits and a cup of coffee.

Almost every alcoholic drink has a lot of calories in it so when you‘re on a diet, drinking alcohol is totally forbidden. But, when you go to a vacation, especially if you‘re with your friends, there‘s no chance that you don‘t drink at least a glass of wine a day. My advice when it comes to alcohol is to stay away from colorful cocktails and from cocktails in general. They have a lot of sugar in them and therefore – a lot of calories. Beer also has a lot of calories so you should avoid it. I advise you to always drinking water with your alcohol because it will help your body digest the alcohol and you‘ll feel better in the morning.

If you want to eat and drink whatever you want, my advice is to try to exercise every day to burn some of the calories you‘ve gained during your stay. In summer, you can try beach volleyball, jogging or swimming to stay in shape and in winter you can try skiing, snowboarding and every snow sport there is around your hotel, swimming if there is an indoor swimming pool or even hiking – it all depends on where you are staying.

The most important thing when it comes to staying in shape during your vacation is to keep in mind that only you have the power to change the way you look and your body is in your hands. So, next time you want to eat that chocolate cake for dinner, think about how it would reflect on your body and choose the fruit instead!
