The Basics of Makeup: What Not to Forget

In the age of Internet women can learn so many new things about makeup techniques, cosmetics products and useful tips that they can even get overwhelmed due to the huge amount of information. Each of us is trying to achieve the perfect look and emphasize their good sides and hide their flaws. However, we often ignore the basics of a good makeup routine while trying to learn new smokey eye methods or find the perfect eye shadow palette. We want to remind you the most significant makeup steps that you should not skip ever!

  • Cleansing and toning is the key for a beautiful and healthy skin. Washing your face and applying toner will purify your pores and prevent excessive oil production on the skin. That will come in handy when applying your foundation – you do not want to get the glowing skin effect, after all!
  • After you have toned your skin, apply a little moisturizer. Do not apply too much, though, since after that, when you apply foundation, you will not get a clean, natural effect, but rather a heavy result.
  • Contouring has become a very popular practice in the makeup world. Sculpture the features of your face with the help of a bronzer and a highlighter, before you apply the foundation. Apply them according to your own face shape by creating shadows which can hide your flaws and emphasize your best parts. In case you have dark circles under the eyes, use a yellow-toned concealer. After you have blended the contours with a brush, apply the foundation and blend it with a sponge, so that the makeup looks as natural as possible.
  • Powder will give a nice finish to your skin. It makes the makeup more long-lasting and prevents oiliness. Apply a little with a blush brush.
  • Remember to moisturize your lips before applying lipstick. A little bit of lip balm can smooth your lips and make the application of lipstick a lot easier. Leave the lip balm on for about ten minutes before applying the lipstick.
  • Lip liner is not only a good contouring product and will prevent lipstick from smudging, but also will make your lips appear more voluminous and sexy. Choose a liner in a shade as similar as possible to your lipstick, so that it does not look silly.
  • Eye brow pencils are also a very significant product. Brows are the “frame” of your face, so their shape needs to be as close to perfect as possible. Shape them according to your face shape, but be careful not to emphasize them too much.

Good luck! Remember that you do not need to overdo your makeup to look beautiful!
